Vavuniya Students Among Visitors to ‘Wanni Innoveta - 2017’

The ‘Wanni Innoveta - 2017’ exhibition, an inspiring opportunity awarded to Army personnel for production of creative innovations took place at the Vavuniya National College of Education during 23- 24 September.

Representing 21, 54, 56, 61, 62 Divisions and Forward Maintenance Area - North Central hundreds of Army personnel exhibited their innovating and creative skills in the exhibition.

Around 40 exhibition stoles displayed their creative products during the exhibition. It was inaugurated by Major General Ruwan De Silva, General Officer Commanding, 21 Division on behalf of the Wanni Commander Major General Kumudu Perera.

Three exceptional innovations were awarded prizes and certificates after a panel of judges including Mr P Eingaram, Senior Lecturer of Chemistry, University of Jaffna, and Mrs Menaka Silvaharan, Senior Lecturer of Food and Nutrition observed the products.

First place and Second place went to 14 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry and 2 Corps of Engineers Services respectively while the Third place was being awarded to 7 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.

The exhibition was organized under the supervision of Brigadier Tissa Nanayakkara, General Officer Commanding, 56 Division under the guidance of the Wanni Commander Major General Kumudu Perera.

Forward Maintenance Area Commander - North Central, Brigadier General Staff, SFHQ-W, several Senior Officers and Officers representing all under command formations, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force, School teachers, students in Vavuniya Educational Zone and civilians in the area witnessed the exhibition on both days.
