US Deputy Chief of Mission in Sri Lanka Mr Robert Hilton during a tour to the north paid a courtesy call at the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on July (31) and met Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna.
During the interactive meeting, the visiting US envoy inquired into the present roles and tasks of the Army and relations between the Security Forces and the civilians in the Jaffna peninsula.
Towards the end of the cordial meeting, both of them exchanged mementos as symbols of goodwill.
Meanwhile, the newly-appointed Defence Attaché at the US Embassy in Sri Lanka, Lieutenant Colonel Douglas Hess met Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, SF-J at the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on Monday (31).
During the cordial meeting, both of them exchanged views on general matters of interest and prevailing peaceful environment in Jaffna area.
Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi towards the end of the interactive meeting, presented a memento to the visiting Defence Attaché as a symbol of goodwill. The gesture was reciprocated.
