UN Staff Officer Training Course No-2 Awards Certificates

The United Nations Staff Officer Course-No 2 (UNSOC), certificate awarding ceremony was held on 22 March at the Institute of Peacekeeping Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL) in the presence of Brigadier Kapila Dolage, Director, Directorate of Training who attended as the Chief Guest.

The course commenced on 06 March and ended on 22 March 2023 and was followed by 38 Student Officers of the Sri Lanka Armed Forces and foreign student officers from Indonesia, Mongolia, Nepal and Bangladesh.

The course curriculum has been designed according to the directions of the Global Peace Operation Initiatives (GPOI) as per instructions of Brigadier Chinthaka Rajapaksha, Commandant of (IPSOTSL) The Lecture Panel consisted of Mr. Bengt Folkeson from Sweden, Mr. Jens Winther Anderson from Denmark, Assistant Officer Instructor, Sujan Gurung from Nepali Army, Lieutenant Colonel M.L.N.U Liyanage, Lieutenant Colonel M.A.A.P Perera, Lieutenant Colonel D.G.E.M.R.B Dhammanthota and Major K.H.D Mendis.

Special Representatives of the United States Embassy in Colombo, Lieutenant Commander Sean Jin - the Chief of Office of Defence Cooperation, Senior Officers and Officers participated in the certificates awarding ceremony.

GPOI is a U.S. Government-funded security assistance programme intended to enhance international capacity to effectively conduct United Nations and regional Peace Support Operations (PSOs) by building friendly foreign nations’ strength, capabilities to train and prolong peacekeeping proficiencies.
