UN AAV Team Reaches Embilipitiya School of Military Engineering

The United Nations (UN) Assessment and Advisory Visit (AAV) team, currently in Sri Lanka in order to evaluate the Operational Readiness Preparations for an additional ‘Combat Convoy Company B-1’ (CCC) to serve in the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) as part of their itinerary arrived at the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering (SLSME) at Embilipitiya on Thursday (23 March).

The UN delegation included Mr. James Victor De Rcole, Colonel Lawrence Kapina, Lieutenant Colonel Rajeev, Mr. Mark Flood and Mr. Satvinder Singh Paul who were received on arrival by Colonel Krishan Manoharan, Commandant, SLSME.

The AAV team during the visit inspected an Explosive Ordnance Device Disposal (EODD) training demonstration inside the SLSME compound and listened to a comprehensive presentation on EODD procedures after the brief welcome note, made by the SLSME Commandant. A practical demonstration on detection of suspicious objects was also staged before those visiting UN delegates.

Major General Asanka Perera, Director General, Directorate of Overseas Operations, Colonel Ruwan Senadeera, Contingent Commander-designate for CCCB-1 for Mali B-1, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were associated with the day’s arrangements.
