'Umandawa' Monk Offers Help for Army-initiated Charity Work in Mullaittivu

A multifaceted welfare project that got underway at Piramanthan Aru Vidyalaya, ‘Nethali Aru Vidyalaya, Punna Niravi Vidyalaya, and Vishwamadu Maha Vidyalaya on Friday (30) saw 57 Division troops of the Security Force HQ-Mullaittivu under the guidance of Major General Chandimal Peiris, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division and Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, Commander of the Security Forces-Mullaittivu gave away a large stock of school accessories, incentives and dry ration packs among students and civilians.

14 Sri Lanka National Guard and 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment too contributed and organized the charity event, sponsored by Ven Samantha Bhadra Thero, Chief Incumbent, 'Umandawa' monastery at Kurunegala.

At the request of Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, the sponsor, Ven Samanthra Badra Thero also delivered a sermon at the Moola Deepa Viharaya on 29th September 2022, in which the visiting monk underlined the necessity of producing more and more food items and the importance of enhancing the living standards of the community. In addition, 75 dry ration packs were distributed among the needy community of the area.
