Together with Policemen at Kantale Police Station, 7 Military Intelligence Corps troops of the 222 Infantry Brigade of the 22 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ-East conducted two raids in the Kantale area and apprehended two suspects with Heroin and cannabis in their possession during 19-21 November.
On Saturday (Nov 19) troops apprehended the first suspect with 2.13 g of Kerala cannabis and on Monday (Nov 21) troops caught the second suspect with 100 mg of Heroin following information given by troops.
Both suspects with narcotics were handed over to the Police for further investigations. Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General Saliya Amunugama, General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division together with Colonel Jude Kariyakarawana, 222 Infantry Brigade Commander, closely monitored and guided the troops for both raids.
