With the intention of uplifting the educational standards of the needy students in the Vallipunam area in Mullaittivu, 681 Brigade troops using locally available raw materials, made six desk tables and six benches that can be used to continue their after school studies in a tuition class, adjacent to the Sencholai playground.
Troops found that the private teaching sessions in the after school arrangement with 75 children are done without proper seating and writing accessories and volunteered to provide them with those furniture with resources available. Troops were supported by parents and teachers who later on praised the Army for the support given by supplying those much-needed desks and benches.
