Troops Welcome & Felicitate Gold Medalist in Kick Boxing on Arrival at Her School Premises

The 59 Division HQ under the SFHQ-MLT on Tuesday (1) welcomed and felicitated the Karipaddamurrippu Government's Tamil School-produced Gold Medalist, Ms Ganesha Indikadevi who won a Gold in the Kick Boxing Tournament, held recently in Lahore, Pakistan in a grand reception when he arrived her home town after victory.

The student, resident in the area, served by troops of the 642 Brigade of the 64 Division under the SFHQ-MLT brought admiration and reputation to the country and the school alike by fetching a Gold Medal home after beating more than 25 international boxers who competed in the tournament.

Organized by 642 Brigade troops, the vehicle parade carried the medalist to her own school, Karipaddamurrippu Government's Tamil School premises where a reception was held with the participation of a restricted invitees, including the General Officer Commanding of the 59 Division, Major General G. D Sooriyabandara as the Chief Guest, along with the principal, teachers, parents and relatives, school-mates and a gathering of well-wishers. Several symbolic gifts were also awarded to her during the event.

23 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops under the close supervision of the Brigade Commander of the 642 Division Colonel G D S M Alwis carried out all arrangements in connection with the reception.

The aforesaid kick boxing competition was held in Lahore between 13- 19 January 2022 with the participation of a large number of kickboxers who competed in the tournament in sequence.

Brigadier General Staff of the Security Forces Headquarters-Mullaitivu, Brigadier Wasantha Paalamakumbura and other senior officers also participated in the felicitation ceremony. The event was held strictly adhering to health protocols and preventive guidelines.
