Troops Set for Retirement Learn ‘Organic Farming’

One more group of 29 Army personnel, ready for retirement but are receiving vocational training in ‘Organic Farming’ to qualify for the National Apprentice Vocational Qualification (NAVQ) certificate at the Non Commissioned Officers Training School (NCOTS) in Saliyawewa, Kalaoya were awarded certificates on Friday (2) during a simple ceremony at the NCOTS.

Colonel L. S. C Perera, 143 Brigade Commander attended the certificate awarding ceremony as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Colonel M.R.K.W.B Pinnawala, NCOTS Commandant, together with Lieutenant Colonel G.G.N Samarasinghe, Officer Commanding at NCOTS, Major M.K.S.S De Silva, Commanding Officer 6 Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps and Major N.M.S.B Narayana, Chief Instructor at the NCOTS.

The training course was conducted at the Army-managed Kandakadu Army farm under the supervision of the trainers in the NCOTS. The Chief Guest in his brief addressed to the occasion highlighted the importance of organic farming for a better and healthy living.
