The timely action of Security Force Headquarters - Central troops late Friday (13) evening began a huge operation to douse a fast spreading fire in the hills around Haldummulla - Wangedigala areas and rescued a group of mountain hikers who remained trapped inside hilly forests.
On the directions of the Commander, Security Forces - Central (SF-C), Major General Rukmal Dias, a team one Officer and twenty Other Ranks rushed to the area and brought the situation under control within hours and rescued the hikers who were threatened with death inside the raging fire.
