Troops Provide Refreshments to ‘Paada Yathra’ Participants at Thondamanaru & Umayalapuram

The annual foot march (Paada Yathra) of Hindu devotees wending their way to Kataragama commenced on 04 June 2022 at Thondamanaru Sri Selva Sannadi Murugan Kovil.

It was treated to refreshments by the 52 Division troops in front of the 52 Divisional Headquarters on 06 June 2022 on the directions of the General Officer Commanding.

The foot march is scheduled to end at Kataragama sacred area after the completion of 56 days.

Meanwhile, 662 Brigade of the 66 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) offered a special lunch treat to those engaged in the foot march to Kataragama from Jaffna as a religious ritual.

The group of 57 devotees, including women were accordingly provided a vegetarian lunch when they reached the Umayalapuram Amman Kovil at Umayalapuram, Kilinochchi.

Brigadier Suminda Dayawansha, Commander, 662 Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel H.P.D.A Wijesekara, Civil Affairs Officer, 66 Division, Senior Officers of 662 Brigade and 20 Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment contributed to the success of the project.
