Troops Pocket out Own Money to Buy School Accessories for Needy Students

Under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 57 Division, Brigadier A.S Hewawitharana, 574 Brigade troops organized a programme for distribution of school accessories for needy students in the area of responsibility on Tuesday (23) at Mankulam Maha Vidyalaya using their own money.

It was aimed to promote the educational achievements among students in low-income families and enhance the relationship between civilians and the Army.

Parcels consisted of school accessories such as shoes, books, pens, pencils, exercise books, accessories, etc. were distributed among 160 students in 6 schools, Mankulam Maha Vidyalaya, Olumadu Tamil School, Shammugarathnam Junior School, Pannikkamkulam Junior School, Ampakamam Junior School and Pulimuchchanadakulam Primary school.

General Officer Commanding, 57 Division, Commander 574 Brigades, Colonel General Staff, 57 Division, Battalion Commanders and Assistant Zonal Education Director, Thunukkai Education Zone, Principals of schools, students, teachers and parents participated in the event.
