A friendly cricket match, organized by 5 (v) Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) troops of the 661 Infantry Brigade of the 66 Division under the Security Force HQ- Mullaitivu between them and the Mullaitivu Pallikuda Kaleoli Sports Club got underway at the 5 (v) MIR playground in Pallikuda on 22 March as a project that promotes co-operation and goodwill between civilians and members of the security Forces.
The match witnessed by a large gathering of the youth and civilians in the area had a close tussle and finally gave the win to the 5 (v) MIR team amid roars of cheers and applause. The winners had 135 runs against their rivals.
Major General Nalin Jayawardana, General Officer Commanding of the 66 Division watched the match and joined the awarding ceremony as the Chief Guest, together with Colonel Nalin Senevirathne, Commander, 661 Infantry Brigade. The day's Chief Gust awarded trophies to the winners and achievers in the match.
Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and civilians of the area witnessed the match.
