Alert to an SOS of the Mulankavil Police Station, 19 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) and 11 (V) Gajaba Regiment (GR) troops of the 65 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) doused a fire that broke out in a private shop at Nachchikuda, Kilinochchi, just a few minutes after Monday (26) midnight.
More than 40 Army personnel in the dead of night after the Mulankavil Police Station sought the Army intervention to bring the fire under control, rushed to the scene where the shop was ablaze, amid strong winds that swept the area at that time of the night.
Within a matter of 35 minutes, those troops succeeded in extinguishing the fast spreading fire with the support of some residents in the area, including the owner of the shop.
After the fire was completely brought under control, the owner and residents in the area personally thanked the troops for their commitment and quick action in spite of risks involved.
