Troops Deployed to Maintain Smooth Operation of Quarantine Curfew

Sri Lanka Army troops, together with Policemen on the directions of General Shavendra, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operation Centre for prevention COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), are deployed island-wide from early this morning (21) to strictly impose quarantine curfew, now in effect in order to prevent further transmission of the virus.

Troops are accordingly manning roadblocks, conducting patrols and deploying quick reaction teams under the supervision of respective Security Force Commanders, General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers.

Meanwhile, the special mobile vaccination programmes and other vaccination centres of the Sri Lanka Army are operational while strengthening the vaccination drive around the country.
