Troops of 121 Infantry Brigade and 20 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (20 SLSR) launched a large scale sharamadana campaign to clear the both sides of the Kataragama - Buttala road starting from Sella Kataragama to Gonaganara area on 05 March 2024.
The programme was initiated under the guidance of Major General C.S. Munasinghe WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc IG, General Officer Commanding of 12 Infantry Division, with the intention of clearing pollutants that had accumulated due to feeding wild animals by commuters.
The Commander of 121 Infantry Brigade and the Commanding Officer of 20 SLSR supervised the programme and Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, government officials, police officers, wildlife office representatives and civilians in the area participated in the programme.
