People in Gajabapura, Mayawewa & Monerawewa villages in Sampathnuwara -Welioya Divisional Secretariat were facing a lot of constraints when buying essential food items during the period of curfew.
Troops of the 621 Brigade and 14 (v) Sri Lanka Light Infantry on an initiative taken by the General Officer Commanding of the 62 Division and the Commander 621 Brigade in conjunction with the assistance of Multi Purpose Cooperative Shops in Medawachchiya on Wednesday (25) launched a mobile programme to sell essential food items for civilians at subsidized rates in view of the prevailing curfew hours in the district.
Essential food and other varieties including potatoes, dhal, B onions, canned fish, salt packets, sugar spices, biscuits, boxes of matches, day today items, etc were included in those packs.
