Troops in all Establishments under SFHQ-West Actively Contribute to 'Vesak' Commemoration

7 (V) Battalion troops of the Gajaba Regiment currently under command to the 142 Infantry Brigade of the Security Force Headquarters-West on account of ‘Vesak’ cleaned Kotelawala Defence University Hospital compound on 4 May before 142 Infantry Brigade HQ troops joined civilians, engaged in Vesak decorations in Thimbirigasyaya and a few areas under the Divisional Secretariat Thimbirigasyaya.

They joined civilians decorating the road from Borella to Nugegoda with Buddhist flags and lanterns, prior to the Vesak day under the guidance of the Commander, 142 Infantry Brigade.

At the same time, troops from the 3 (V) Gemunu Watch of the 613 Infantry Brigade under the 61 Infantry Division, along with the residents of the Matara area, contributed their manpower to conduct a ‘Shramadana’ campaign at Migadaya temple premises in Matara on 04 May 2023. The project was supervised and coordinated by the 613 Brigade Commander and the Commanding Officer of 3 (V) Gemunu Watch.

In addition, troops of 6 Field Sri Lanka Artillery of the 141 Infantry Brigade organized a ‘Manioc Dansala’ near their camp premises in Veyangoda on 05 May 2023 for devotees on sight-seeing in Veyangoda area.

The project was conducted under the close supervision of the Brigade Commander, 142 Infantry Brigade and the Commanding Officer of the 6 Field Sri Lanka Artillery.

Meanwhile, collective efforts of Army personnel of 16 Gajaba Regiment and 1 Sri Lanka National Guard also launched another rice ‘Dansela’ near the 143 Brigade Headquarters at Sellakandawatta, Puttalam on 05 May 2023. This charitable project was totally supervised by the respective Commanding Officers and the Commander, 143 Infantry Brigade.

Those religious projects were conducted under the guidance of both General Officers Commanding of 14 and 61 Infantry Divisions following instructions given by the Commander, Security Forces-West.
