Tree Planting Goes to Three Provincial Schools

One more phase of the ongoing tree planting project was launched under the theme ‘Nature Conservation Project’ by the troops of the 581 Brigade serving the 58 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) on Wednesday (29) at Dickwella North Central College, Pinnaduwa Jayanthi Maha Vidyalaya and Randenigama Kanitu Vidyalaya compounds.
 
The project was initiated on the directions of Major General Sudantha  Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces - West (SF-West) with the objective of creating an eco-friendly environment and also to reduce the pollution by increasing the greenery forest areas in Western, Southern and Sabaragamuwa Provinces.

The main tree planting project was inaugurated at Dickwella North Central College premises planting 200 saplings of fruits under the guidance of Major General K.C Gunawardana, General Officer Commanding, 58 Division 

Colonel N.K.L.S R Dias, Commander, 581 Brigade participated as the chief guest in the inaugural event, together with students, educational, environmental, forest authorities and officials amid a large gathering of Army officers.

In the meantime, another 200 saplings of fruits were planted inside the Pinnaduwa Jayanthi Maha Vidyalaya and Randenigama Kanitu Vidyalaya premises in parallel with the main event by the troops of 3 (V) Battalion of Gemunu Watch around the same time on Wednesday (29).
