The customary Sinhala and Tamil New Year tea table at the Security Forces Headquarters - West was held at Army gymnasium premises on 16 April 2024. Major General S.W.M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, the Commander of Security Forces - West (SF - West), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The inauguration of the symbolic New Year treat commenced after the day’s Chief Guest lighting the traditional oil lamp along with Senior Officers. Afterwards, the Commander of the Army extended New Year wishes to the gathering. Simultaneously, Commander, SF - West distributed gift packs among 36 civil servants working under SF - West.
The traditional tea table was adorned with many varieties of traditional sweetmeats and milk rice. The Commander engaged with participants, sharing his thoughts and views. A group of Officers, Other Ranks and civil employees also participated in the occasion.
