Army troops serving the 681 Brigade of 68 Division under the Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) with the sponsorship provided by Korean philanthropists,laid the cornerstone for construction of a new house for a widow with two children in the eastern Grama Seva sector of Vellamullivaikkal, Mullaittivu.
Based on information provided to the SFHQ-MLT, 681 Brigade took the initiative to construct this house for Mrs A. Sharmila, a widow with two children who was undergoing severe economic hardships and without a proper shelter.
Sponsored by Korean nationals, Ms Song Hee Ling, Pi Yao Shen Hai and Bak Mi Yongi, the project got to a start on Saturday (30), together with Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Provincial Councillors, Ms Mary Kamala Gunaseelan and Mr Kanaga Sunder Swamy, State Officials, Grama Seva Officials and several other Army officers.
Major General Mark at the invitation of the 681 Brigade laid the foundation stone for the construction at the auspicious minute according to Hindu rituals.
