Those Accusing SL Have Hidden Agendas - Defence Secy

Baseless allegations are levelled against Sri Lanka continuously and the government responded to them as they have a hidden agenda, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said yesterday.

The Defence Secretary made this observation as chief guest at a ceremony to launch the website of Strategic Initiatives for the Protection of Sri Lanka (SIPOS) (www.outofwar.com) at the BMICH yesterday.

He said that the accusers were fully aware of the genuine scenario and they yet level charges since their aim is to achieve their ends.

He added that the most pathetic situation is that false facts against Sri Lanka are given to foreign forces by some Sri Lankans for meagre benefits.

The Defence Secretary said that foreign forces are levelling these allegations to bring some other group to power as they are fully aware that this leader or the government is not fulfilling their needs. Former acting Chief Justice Rajah Wanasundara, Professor Ashoka Bandarage of George Town University of America, Gomin Dayasiri and journalist Malinda Seneviratne also spoke.

Ambassadors, Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivad Cabraal, Housing, Construction and Engineering Services and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa were also present. (Courtesy: Daily News)
