Troops of the Security Force Headquarters-Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), together with a large gathering of Hindu devotees in the area celebrated ‘Thai Pongal’ at Thirimurukkandi Kovil. Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, SFHQ-KLN was also present at the moment.
‘Thai Pongal,’ the thanksgiving or the festival of harvest was marked at the end of the harvest season and is one of the most important festivals, celebrated by Hindus in Sri Lanka together with their fellow-believers in the South Asia.
Commander SFHQ-KLN, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area (FMA)-Kilinochchi, senior officers, officers, other ranks and members of the general public attended this religious event.
Chief Priest at Thirumurukkandi Kovil distributed ‘Pongal Rice’ among all attendees after invoking blessings on the devotees.
