Coincident with the 74th Army Anniversary day (10 Oct), seven Major Generals of the Army, just promoted called on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu and received their symbols of authority and greetings from him at the Commander’s Office Monday afternoon (09 Oct).
The Army Chief after lending his best wishes to Major General R Elvitigala USP, Major General I.H.M.R.K Herath USP ndc psc, Major General W.M.P.M Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu, Major General W.P Kariyawasam, Major General K.M.P.S.B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc and Major General H.H.K.S.S Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc, presented their symbols of authority while assuring to ensure more committed and dedicated roles and perform better in the years to come in the best interest of the country's security and prosperity.
After cordial interactions and greetings, the Commander of the Army awarded General’s sword to the new two-star Generals to signify their new authority. Those Officers thanking the Commander of the Army for his warm wishes added memories to the occasion by posing for several photos.
