Students & Civilians in Vallipuram Area Given Welfare Aids

The “Hope of the Children” organization, aimed at supporting the uplift of the educational background of children in remote areas extended its sponsorship to the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaitivu (SFHQ-MLT) for welfare promotion of children and civilians, resident in the general of Vallipuram by distributing school accessories, clothes, shoes and dry ration packs for underprivileged families on Thursday (30).

As per directions of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, the SFHQ-MLT under the guidance of Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, Commander, Secrity Forces-MLT in order to enhance the civil-military cooperation in Mullaitivu District, launched those projects in coordination with Major General Kirthi Bandara, General Officer Commanding 68 Division and Brigadier Nalin Hettiarachchi, Commander 681 Brigade held the project at the Vallipuram School premises.

School accessories, clothes, shoes and books were among those aids distributed for the benefit of students while parents and civilians who undergo economic hardships were donated dry ration packs at the same occasion. Afterwards, a special lunch treat was also served to those beneficiaries as one more feature of the day's agenda.

This event was organized by troops of 6 Gemunu Watch and 9 Sri Lanka National Guard under the 681 Brigade as per instructions of their Commanding Officers.

Bishop Rev Geeverghese Makariose, clergy, Mr. S Jeyakanth, Divisional Secretary Puthukkudiyiruppu, Mr. R Tamail Maran and Zonal Director of Education, Mr. Sivaguru Sinnaarasa were among invitees to the occasion.

Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, Commander, Secrity Forces-MLT graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, together with representatives of donors, Major General Kirthi Bandara GOC, 68 Division, Brigadier Nalin Hettiarachchi, Commander 681 Brigade, Brigadier Chaminda Galappatti, Commander, 682 Brigade, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and - Principal Vallipunam School participated in the day's welfare projects.
