Students’ Camping Expedition Supported by Troops

Troops of the 622 Infantry Brigade of the 62 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ - Wanni assisted and facilitated the conduct of the annual joint camping project of six schools, named Sri Lanka Youth Exploration expedition during 7 - 9 April 2023.

A group of 147 students and 60 organizing committee members from Kebithigollewa Central College, Vidyartha College, Kandy, Mahamaya Girls’ College, Kandy, Hillwood Girls’ College, Kandy, Vishakha Vidyalaya, Colombo, Pinnawala Central College, Kegalle and Ankumbura Veluwana Central College, Kandy participated in the 3 day-long camping expedition in order to explore the bio-diversity in the Kochchiyagala forest reserve.

A group of 17 troops of the 5 (V) Battalion Gajaba Regiment (GR) commanded by Major D. S. Y. L Kuruwita, Commanding Officer, 5 (V) GR under the supervision of the Commander, 623 Infantry Brigade, Colonel B. D. R. Budagoda USP as per instructions given by the General Officer Commanding, 62 Infantry Division, Major General R. A. J. N Ranasinghe RSP USP ndc provided necessary security arrangements for the project in close coordination with other authorities.
