Student Officers of DSCSC - 18 Visits Army HQ

The Student Officers of Defence Services Command and Staff Course - 18 (DSCSC) made a familiarization visit to the Army Headquarters on 4 March 2024 as a part of their course curriculum.

The visiting Student Officers together with Directing Staff of DSCSC and Major General B.K.G.M.L. Rodrigo RSP psc IG, the Commandant of DSCSC were warmly welcomed by the Brigadier P.C.L Gunawardana RWP RSP psc, the Director, Directorate of Research Concept and Doctrine to the Army Headquarters premises. Lieutenant Colonel D.L.U de Thabrew RWP RSP USP psc delivered a comprehensive presentation on the 'Importance of Modernized Infrastructure for Effective Command and Staff Function' in the multifunction hall, followed by Colonel M.R Hameem USP, Colonel Information Technology (IT) of Directorate of IT enlightening the audience on the Army Network Operation System. The interactive sessions provided opportunity for student Officers to address their queries.

Subsequently, the student Officers were given a firsthand experience at the Army Headquarters Operation Room and Network Operation Center.

At the end of the day’s proceedings Major General W.H.K.S Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, Chief of Staff and Major General S.P.A.I.M.B Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc, Deputy Chief of Staff closely interacted with the School Commandant, Directing Staff and Student Officers. Afterwards, School Commandant presented a memento to the Chief of Staff. The gesture was reciprocated.

The current DSCSC Course No-18 comprises 154 student Officers, including 25 foreign Officers from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Maldives, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, USA, and Zambia. This diverse group includes 81 Army, 22 Navy and 26 Air Force personnel, enriching the learning environment with a breadth of perspectives.
