Student Officers at ASL Logistics Staff Course Undertake Study Tour to Naval Academy

A batch of Student Officers at the Army School of Logistics (ASL) in Trincomalee following the Logistics Staff Course No-08 along with members of the Directing Staff, led by the ASL Commandant undertook a familiarization visit to the Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee on 05 November 2022.

This visit was organized as a part of the course curriculum of the Logistics Staff Course with the prime objective of providing trainees an experience of diverse logistic systems which are implemented in the sister services. Moreover, this visit provided the opportunity to enhance the comparative knowledge of Student Officers in the field of Naval logistics.

The ASL group was warmly welcomed by Senior Navy Officers before a briefing on the history and the role of the Academy was presented. During the visit, Student Officers visited the Commodore Superintendent Logistics Department (CSLD), considered to be the second largest logistics network in the Sri Lanka Navy.

As the major element of the event, they were given an exceptional opportunity to visit one of the significant coast guard naval ships 'Sayura'. Moreover, they got an important briefing on the function and operating systems of the ship and the Logistics system applied by the ship at sea.

Afterwards, the delegation visited the Naval Stores at the premises where short briefings were conducted on procurement management, warehouse management, material management and issue of procedures that provided a plethora of information on naval logistics operations.

The occasion was marked with an exchange of mementoes between Brigadier Menaka Fernando, the Commandant ASL, and Captain Tuan Marso, the Senior Course Coordinator of the Long Logistic Management Course of the Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee.
