AMPARA: AN EXCHANGE of gunfire took place between Special Task Force (STF) troops and a group of LTTE terrorists when the STF encircled the terrorist group hiding in the KANCHIKUDICHCHIARU jungle Saturday (2) afternoon.
Four terrorists were killed while a few more withdrew to the interior of the jungle.
STF later conducted a search in the area and recovered four LTTE dead bodies, four T-56 weapons, one micro pistol, one pistol magazine with eight ammunition, eight T-56 magazines, forty-four M-16 ammunition, two hundred and five T-56 ammunition, three hand grenades, two I-com sets, two antennas, twenty-one pen torch batteries, one knife, two LTTE dog-tags, one belt and some food and other items.
According to the STF, those terrorists were involved in terrorists activities in BUTTALA area.
