During the visit to Mali, Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Director General General Staff (DGGS), together with Colonel S.W.P.M.H.R Senadheera RWP USP psc, designate Contingent Commander Combat Convoy Company - B1 (CCC- B1) for the UN Peace-Keeping Mission in the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) on Tuesday (27) met the East Sector Commander MINUSMA Brigadier General Harendra Pratak at the Chief of Mission Support Center, Gao and Ms Asha Kin, Head of Logistics inside the Egypt Camp where the new CCC - B1 contingent of Sri Lanka were to be deployed by September 2023 as planned.
He closely inspected accommodation facilities, ground realities and other logistic needs during his stopover and shared views with the Brigadier General and Senior Officers present there. Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc is currently in Mali on a reconnaissance visit and this was the second day of his stay in Mali.
During separate visits, Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc and Colonel S.W.P.M.H.R Senadheera RWP USP psc exchanged views on possible deployment of the designate CCC- B1, scheduled to undertake responsibilities in September.
Sri Lankan military officers also visited the 4th CCC Headquarters in Gao and had a cordial interaction with the Sri Lankan troops who are already engaged in peacekeeping duties.
