The launch of the Army Doctrinal Publication at the Army Headquarters on Friday, (19 January), marked a significant moment in the Sri Lanka Army's progressive march, ushering in a new era for military training, education and staff work. Under the insightful guidance of Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army, these publications have been revised to make it more relevant to the military body of knowledge and accessible to all Army personnel.
In marking the beginning of the event, Brigadier P.C.L Gunawardana RWP RSP psc, Director, Directorate of Research Concept and Doctrine (Dte of RCD), warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, the Commander of the Army to the Fifth Army Doctrinal Publication Launching Ceremony.
During the ceremony, Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, the Director General General Staff, presented the Chief Guest with the revised versions of Capstone Doctrine, two Army Field Manuals on Formation Tactics and Internal Security Operations, four Handbooks, namely the Glossary of Military Terms Handbook, Military Abbreviation Handbook, Operational Staff Work Handbook, and Staff Officers’ Handbook, and three Pamphlets. As a special highlight, a Coffee Table Book titled ‘Historical Reminiscences of Army Training Command and Directorate of Research Concept and Doctrine 2012-2023’ was also introduced to the audience.
Electronic copies of all publications were uploaded to the Army e-portal, ensuring widespread access for personnel across the organization.
