Sri Lanka Sinha Regimental Centre at Ambepussa, deviating from its routine formalities recently, did spouses and family members of late senior War Heroes the honour of visiting Elephant Pass, Jaffna, Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu areas where their beloved warriors laid their lives for the sake of the unitary status of the country several years ago.
Spouses and next of kin of late War Heroes, Major General W I V K M Wimalaratne (1992), Major General B B S Mendis (1998), Colonel H R Stephen (1992) and Lieutenant Colonel G L U Buddadasa (1991) participated in this two-day tour, organized as a tribute to the memory of those senior War Heroes who sacrificed their lives in Araly Point, Nallur, Jaffna and Elephant Pass.
All those relatives visited respective locations where their beloved ones made the supreme sacrifice and paid their respect during the tour. Floral wreaths were laid and oil lamps were lit in their memory at the foot of those monuments. Their journey also covered areas of interest in Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu districts.
Security Forces Headquarters in Wanni, Jaffna, Mullaittivu and Kilinochchi, in coordination with Sri Lanka Navy troops extended their fullest support to this tour and provided them with necessary refreshments and other facilities at different locations since some of those touring visitors were now very senior in age.
