8 Battalion of Sri Lanka National Guard troops organized a donation of dry ration packets, sponsored by Ven Thalagala Sumanarathna Thero, the Founding Chairman of Thalagala Sri Siddhartha Foundation and Tan Ngak Buay & Keen Meng Lang Foundation Limited of Singapore on 30 May 2022 at Thirukkovil and Damana Divisional Secretariats with the noble objective of providing assistance to low income families in Ampara District.
A total of 275 dry ration packets, inclusive of rice, dhal, milk powder, etc were distributed among them. The founder and president of Sri Sriddhartha Foundation (Sri Lanka) Venerable Talagala Sumanarathana Thero, together with Tan Ngak Buay and Keen Meng Lang Foundation Limited (Singapore) was also present at the occasion.
The Commander 242 Brigade, Brigadier Sampath Fernando, along with the Civil Affairs Officer of the 242 Brigade, Commanding Officer of 8 SLNG, Officers and Other Ranks of 8 SLNG attended the programme.
