With Sponsors' Support, 21 Division Gets Free School Accessories to Students in Kadurupitiya & Anuradhapura

A combined team of donors, led by one Mr Chamara Dharshana Wijesinghe of Nugegoda at the request of the Army sponsored the free distribution of school accessories to 103 students of low-income group families at Kadurupitiya Ashokamala Vidyalaya in Anuradhapura on an initiative taken by the General Officer Commanding, 21 Division, Major General Mohan Rathnayake on 17 December.

The community assistance programme that corresponds to the Commander's 'Army Way Forward Strategy 2020-2025' was meant to help uplift educational standards of students in this remote area where economic hardships pose a barrier to their studies. The Commander 213 Brigade, Colonel L.G.J.N Ariyathilaka with the support of the Commanding Officer 5 (V) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Major S.D Ratnasiri launched the project inviting those children with parents to the school premises.

Major General Mohan Rathnayake, General Officer Commanding 21 Division graced the distributing occasion as the Chief Guest, together with Brigade and Battalion commanders.

In the meantime, three more donors who wish to remain anonymous at the request of the Commander Security Forces-Wanni, Major General Champaka Ranasinghe, came forward to buy school accessories for 91 needy students learning at the Silpashoka Primary School in Anuradhapura District before the new school sessions begin next year.

Major General Mohan Rathnayaka, General Officer Commanding, 21 Division of the SFHQ-Wanni distributed those accessories on 20 December, together with the Commander 213 Brigade, Colonel L.G.J.N Ariyathilaka and the Commanding Officer 4th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard whose troops organized the event.

The principal and teachers of Sripaloka primary school participated in the event.
