SLSR Regimental Centre Salutes Retiring SLSR Senior Officer

The Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) Regimental HQ at Ambepussa on Friday (21) in a fitting ceremony bade a formal farewell to the retiring Brigadier J.M.L Jayasundara RWP upon completion of more than 34 years of valuable service to the organization.

The formalities observed at the SLSR Regimental HQ included a Guard Turnout, accorded by SLSR troops soon after he arrived at the entrance in keeping with military traditions. After a while, a ceremonial parade saluted him before he made a floral tribute to the SLSR War Heroes’ monument in the Regimental HQ and saluted the memory of fallen War Heroes.

Afterwards, the retiring Senior Officer joined All Ranks for refreshments at the main auditorium before he posed for a group photograph. A lunch treat with all ranks brought the day’s proceedings to an end after exchange of mementos.

Major General G.R.R.P Jayawardena RWP RSP ndu, Colonel of the Regiment SLSR and Quarter Master General presented the memento as a symbolic appreciation of his dedicated and committed services.

At the same occasion Mrs Omila Jayawardena, Chairperson, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch, awarded a special memento to Mrs Achala Udayangani Gunawardane, the spouse of the retiring Senior Officer.

Brigadier J.M.L Jayasundara RWP spoke to All Officers gathered and expressed his gratitude for the assistance and support given by all in carrying out his duties as a member of the Sinha family. Senior Officers including Council members, Staff Officers, Officers of the SLSR, and their spouses took part in the series of events.
