SLSC Chief Undertakes Formal Visit to School of Signals

The newly-appointed Chief Signal Officer (CSO) and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) Major General Sugath Ratnayake paid his maiden visit to the School of Signals at Boowelikada, Kandy on Friday (Mar 24).

The CSO was warmly welcomed by Colonel Dilantha Fernando, Commandant, School of Signals after he was greeted with a Guard Turnout at the entrance. Moments later, he was honoured in a colourful Guard of Honour and was invited to plant a mango sapling in the premises as a symbol of memory of the day.

Afterwards, the day's Chief Guest addressed the troops and highlighted the importance of having multidimensional training, personal discipline of the soldiers and its impact on their personal life. Furthermore, he advised them to be alert to the correct use of social media, situational awareness and ways to overcome the present financial crisis.

Later, the Commandant, School of Signals presented a special memento to the Colonel Commandant, SLSC as a symbol of memory of his first formal visit to the School of Signals after inauguration of his new office. Before enjoying a tea with the all ranks, he made a camp visit to monitor training and infrastructure facilities available in the School of Signals and gave guidelines for further progressive improvements.

Senior Officers, Officers, permanent staff of the School of Signals and a team of trainees representing several ongoing courses were present at the occasion.
