Major General Vikum Liyanage - Commander Security Forces - Central assumed office as the 20th Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) on Tuesday (13) at the SLNG Regimental Centre in Wehera, Kurunegala.
The Colonel of the Regiment on arrival at the Regimental premises was greeted to a Guard Turnout at the entrance and welcomed by the Centre Commandant Brigadier W.M.D.S.K Gunawardhane. Thereafter the Colonel of the Regiment placed a floral wreath at the fallen War Heroes’ monument of Sri Lanka National Guard. Afterwards, he placed his signature for a formal document amidst religious observances to signify the acceptance of the new office.
Afterwards, Major General Vikum Liyanage added memories to assumption of his new office by planting a sapling in the premises. Later on, he addressed the troops at the Guardians Facility Complex.
The Centre commandant, Regimental staff officers, Commanding officers and Regimental staff attended the event in accordance with the health guidelines issued by the AHQ and health authorities for COVID-19 preventive unit.
