SLMA's Officer Cadets Provided with New Accommodation Facilities

General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army during his stay in Diyatalawa to grace the POP ceremony this morning (19) where HE the President was the Chief Guest was invited to declare open a newly-constructed accommodation building, a long-felt infrastructure need for Officer Cadets of the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA), just a few hours after the main highlight.

The Army Chief unveiled a plaque, cut the ribbon and visited inside which has been dedicated as ‘General Shavendra Silva Senior Cadets' Block’.

The new two storied accommodation building consists of 22 rooms for Officer Cadets with all the supportive elements towards the training. This building was artistically erected on the directions of General Shavendra Silva, intending to get those trainees the best of the best.

Troops of the Corps of Engineers Service Regiment constructed the new building using their technical expertise, skills and commitments with allocation of Army funds for the purpose. A model room inside the same location was also inaugurated at the same time and constructor troops also received commendation at the same location by their Army Chief during a round of brief interactions.

Senior Officers including Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Commandant Sri Lanka Military Academy attended the occasion.
