SLFPC Team in UNIFIL Swimming Competition Does Well

The annual ‘Open Swimming Competition’ organized by the Sri Lankan Force Protection Company (SLFPC) in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) got underway during 25-26 May 2023 at the UNIFIL Headquarters in Naquora, Lebanon.

A large number of swimmers from Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Irish-Poland Battalion, France (Force Commander Reserve - FCR), Spain, China, Ghana, Malaysia, Macedonia, Slovenia, Italy, Headquarters Force Protection Unit and Sector West, competed in the events during both days.

Deputy Force Commander of UNIFIL, Brigadier General Chok Bahadur Dhakal graced the final day of the competition as the Chief Guest, together with the SLFPC Contingent Commander, Lieutenant Colonel D.P.L.T Kaluaggala RSP USP.

The Overall Championship was secured by France (Force Commander Reserve group) while Spain and Sri Lanka (SLFPC) became joint Runners-up.

Achievements of the Sri Lankan Force Protection Company are as follows:

40 M Breast stroke (Women) - 1st Place - Sergeant K.W.N Wimalasooriya

40 M Breast stroke (Women) - 3rd Place - Staff Sergeant P.D.C Gayanthi

4 X 40 M Medley Relay - 3rd Place - SLFPC Team
