SLEME Cyclists Clinch Inter Regiment Cycling Championship - 2023

A total of 133 racing cyclists including those from Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps, representative of 13 Regiments showed their colours in the Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) - organized Inter Regiment Cycling Championship - 2023 that got underway during 7 - 8 September at Udawalawe.

Major General J.A.R.S.K Jayasekara USP psc, Director General Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and Chairman of the Army Cycling Committee attended the awarding ceremony as the Chief Guest.

The championship boasted a diverse array of competitions, catering to riders under various categories and skill levels as well as age limits. These included racing and standard men's events, standard women's event, an event, dedicated to riders above the age of 50, and timing trials for both standard and racing disciplines, available for both individual and team participation.

Riders in the SLEME finally emerged as the champions, earning 104 points as against the runner-up, Sri Lanka Artillery competitors with 50 points.

The 2023 Inter Regiment Cycling Championship served a platform for healthy competitions and also strengthened the bonds within comrades in 13 Regiments.
