SLAVF Troops Learn More about ‘Media & Army’ from Army Spokesman

In order to provide basic knowledge on ‘Media & Its Impact’ to Officers and Other Ranks in the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF), Brigadier Nilantha Premaratne, Army Spokesman cum Director Media at the Army Headquarters on Wednesday (6) at the request of Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, Commandant, SLAVF delivered a lecture on ‘Media and Army’ and educated them on general matters of Media concern with special focus on its timely importance.

During the lecture, he covered positive and negative aspects of media, soldiers’ responsibilities towards the society, public perception management, media and military relationship, social media etiquettes and adverse effects of using social media and the manner it deals with the public. He also highlighted the importance of not being a victim of disinformation and misinformation and the proper management of media in an attempt to enhance the image of the Sri Lanka Army, especially during this present decisive and economic crisis context.

Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, Commander, SLAVF and a gathering of more than 175 troops, including Officers and Other Ranks listened to the lecture and it culminated with a question-answer session.
