SLAVF Soldiers Learn about the ‘Beekeeping’ Industry

The Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) in a new gesture of training to widen horizons of knowledge, a selective group of soldiers were trained on beekeeping for the promotion of beehive production in the field of agriculture on a suggestion, made by Major General Sujeewa SenarathYapa, the SLAVF Commandant on 26 August 2022 at the SLAVF Headquarters.

Colonel Hemantha Perera, Colonel Coordinating Officer in the 22 Division, an expert in the respective field provided his expertise and trained the soldiers in order for them to practise beekeeping as an alternative domestic industry for generation of additional income.

Practical sessions on proper beehive placements demonstrated the techniques, related to beekeeping during the training.

Several Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks enthusiastically took part in the project.
