SLAVF Provides Financial Grants to Undergrads of Army & Civil Families

In order to support the continuation of university studies of 39 undergraduates, belonging to Army and civil staffers’ families, financial grants were awarded during a ceremony, held on Wednesday (27) at the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) Headquarters in Salawa, Kosgama.

Major General Channa Weerasuriya, Commandant, SLAVF as the Chief Guest gave away those financial grants, each Rs 50,000/= in value to those 39 sons and daughters, belonging to Army and civil staffers’ families as incentives for continuation of their university studies after they joined universities in 2020.

The entire cost of those grants was provided by dividends, generated by ‘Virusaviya’ Insurance Scheme which is managed jointly by the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and the National Insurance Corporation of Sri Lanka.

Those undergraduates were largely from families of fallen and injured War Heroes. The distribution ceremony was attended by Senior Officers of the Army Volunteer Force, invitees and parents of those beneficiaries.
