The new accommodation building, a long felt need at the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) Headquarters at Kosgama was vested in SLAVF Senior Officers during a ceremony on Monday (17 July).
Major General S.U.M.N Manage WWV RWP RSP psc, Commandant, SLAVF as the Chief Guest for the occasion cut a ribbon and warmed the new facility, meant for Senior Officers serving the SLAVF HQ.
The cornerstone for the construction of this building was laid on 16 November 2022 and technical and engineering troops of the SLAVF completed its construction in less than 8 months.
Amid chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ by members of the Maha Sangha, the day’s Chief Guest, SLAVF Commandant unveiled a plaque and entered the new building before warming rites and rituals including lighting of the oil lamp and milk pot-boiling, etc were performed.
Engineering and technical skills of Garrison Engineer Office under command to the 1 Corps of Engineer Services Regiment, effectively completed the construction under the guidance of the SLAVF Commandant. The project was closely supervised by Major General M.T.K.R Silva KSP, the SLAVF Deputy Commandant.
During the brief opening ceremony, the SLAVF Commandant expressed his gratitude to all those involved in the project and spoke high of their creative skills.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.
