The celebration of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) Headquarters took place at the SLAVF compound on the guidelines given by Major General W. A. S. S Wanasinghe RSP VSV USP ndu, Commandant, SLAVF on 17 April 2023.
During the occasion, the new year message that brings warm new year greetings to all in the Army, issued by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army was read out. In his wishes, he has commended the exemplary conduct of Army members and their dedication for the benefit of the people by safeguarding the interests of the motherland and its people in spite of all challenges.
The gathering was entertained to a customary treat of sweetmeats and traditional formalities arranged. On the same occasion, the civil employees of the Headquarters were gifted with special gift parcels by the Commandant appreciating the services, being endered by them to the establishment.
The Commandant had a cordial interaction with all the staff who were presen during the occasion. Major General M.T.K.R Silva KSP, Deputy Commandant, SLAVF, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks exchanged best compliments with one another before the event drew to a close.
