SLAVF Celebrates Its 143rd Anniversary

The Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) proudly celebrated its 143rd Anniversary on 01 April 2024 amidst religious and military formalities under the guidance of Major General M.K. Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu, the Commandant of the SLAVF.

The customary celebrations were commenced with the arrival of the Commandant, SLAVF to the camp premises and he was warmly received by Major General M.T.K.R Silva KSP, the Deputy Commandant, SLAVF. He was accorded a Guard Turnout and an Guard of Honour by the troops of the Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps.

The Commandant and Deputy Commandant paid their tribute by laying floral wreaths on the memorial of late Captain S.W.M.S.U Aladeniya PWV. Later on, All-Ranks lunch was held with the participation of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of SLAVF.

In line with the celebrations, lunch was offered for the residents of Sanda Sevana Elders’ Home. Additionally, a Seth Pirith chanting ceremony got underway on 28 March 2024.
