Inter Regiment Basketball Championship - 2016 was held at the Gymnasium, Army Cantonment, Panagoda on Monday (07).
Sri Lanka Army Services Corps (SLASC) won the men’s championship by defeating Commando Regiment (CDO) for 65 points to 56 while women’s championship was won by Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) beating Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) by 39 to 35.
Private R.D.K Sampath of SLASC was selected as the best player in men’s category; Private J Thushanandahini was selected as the Best Player in women’s category.
Major General K.R.P Rowel, Chief Signal Officer and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) graced the final event as the chief guest.
Major General P.M.R Bandara, Director General Sports, Brigadier G.J.A.W Galagamage, Director Sports and Chairman, Army Basketball Committee, senior officers and other rankers witnessed the event.
