Well-competed final Kabaddi championship tournament among Regiments brought victory to the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) in the final tussle against its equally competitive rival, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) during the finals at the indoor stadium in the Panagoda Army cantonment on Friday (9).
Friday’s finals were witnessed by the Director General Army Sports, Major General Rohana Bandara who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Brigadier K.A.D.S.L Perera, Chairman, Army Kabaddi Committee.
Kabaddi tournament, competed by 18 Regiments and 2 Woman Units continued last week for four consecutive days (7-10) at Indoor gymnasium. It was conducted under three categories; ‘A’ Division, Super League and Women’s event.
Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) emerged the 2nd runners-up in the Super League.
In the meantime, Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) became Champions in the ‘A’ Division.
2 (V) Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) and 5 Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (5 SLAWC) carried away trophies for the 1st and 2nd places in the women’s category.
The Championship Trophy as well as merit awards and shields to the Best players in both teams were presented by Major General Rohana Bandara at the end of the ceremony.
