SLAGSC Takes to Cashew Planting at Kuttigala

Giving a stimulant to the ongoing governmental efforts to promote export crops at local level in order to earn foreign exchange, the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) on Wednesday (29) launched a project to plant 700 cashew saplings inside the SLAGSC camp compound at Kuttigala.

Organized on the directions of Brigadier Palitha Hewawasam, Colonel Commandant, SLAGSC, the inaugural phase kicked off by planting 210 saplings in an extent of 3 acres. The remaining 7 acres will continue to have those saplings within next few days with the patronage of the Sri Lanka Cashew Corporation.

The project supervised by Lieutenant Colonel C.S Demuni, Commanding Officer 1 SLAGSC, Major K.D Gorakapitiya, Commanding Officer, 1 SLAGSC (Kuttigala) was attended by All Ranks at the Kuttigala camp during the inaugural occasion where 210 saplings were planted.
