The Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) detachment at Ella - Kantale with the objective of storing Army – harvested paddy put up a storage, adequate for 100,000 kgs and prepared a new paddy drying ground patch of 2000 sq ft inside the camp.
The arrangement was made possible in line with the Army Commander’s ‘Thuru Mithuru Nawa Ratak’ concept which would go hand in hand with the government’s policy statement, ‘Saubhagye Dekma’ (Vistas of Splendor and Prosperity).
These constructions were enabled by Brigadier H.A.P.P.K Hewawasam, Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps who instructed Lieutenant Colonel C.S Demuni, Commanding Officer 1 Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps. Both were opened on 26 September.
Major W.R.A.C Prasanna, Officer Commanding of the Ella - Kantale Detachment together with his troops contributed to this new store construction.
